My friends at Semafor invited me to listen to a panel last night about the race to embrace Artificial Intelligence as a matter of public policy.
Senator Mark Kelly represented the mainstream view of Washington politicians. AI might be bad for white collar workers but we have to win the race to implement it everywhere before the Chinese do.
On the other hand, Nate Soares, a tech policy researcher presented the findings of his new book, If Anyone builds it, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All. Seems pretty self-explanatory to me.
